Fiction Writing Workshop 1
Each group writes a piece of “flash fiction”, which deals in some way with the subject/theme that they chose for their project; gentrification, squatting, romanticised idea of the artist, displacement from the body, etc.

The word-count range is 400 to 800 words. Anything in that range is fine.

We will discuss the writings in our next session on October 1st.

Deadline: September 26th (including the day)

Each group sends a (brief) description of their project subjects

Extra:

In addition to the main assignment, each group can (if you feel inspired) send a very very short piece of flash fiction, under 100 words, again, dealing with your project theme.
As we discussed in the workshop, you are encouraged to use (elements of) fantasy, according to which, you can potentially give life to objects, spaces, buildings and other things not belonging to these categories, e.g. clouds or air.

However, do not feel obliged, you can as well keep it about us humans and our relationships with each other and the system in which we are living.

Again, as discussed, do not overthink or worry.

You are just writing a first draft. Do not think about all the great works of fiction that you’ve read in your life and you admire. Those folks rewrote their stuff many many times before they published them, they spent years honing their craft.

You are simply starting to use fiction writing as a creative medium.
