Who deserves displacement, designing a speculative nearby future.

We will be showing our speculative interpretation of a climate lockdown. This video will show a press conference like we are used to now with the pandemic lockdown. We researched the methods used in writing and making these press conferences and figured out the pattern. With this pattern we wrote our own speculative press conference message introducing new rules and restrictions regarding the climate lockdown. We use infographics and speculative statistics to show numbers and to introduce rules and restrictions. This video press conference will be shown on a tv screen in a living room installation during the presentation. The installation will feel like you are stepping into someone's living room with the press conference on the tv.
Sketch of this speculative climate lockdown image:
The year is 2031 and the world is in a climate pandemic. Since transfering into a sustainable way of living went too slow and there was too much resistance because people were scared they had to alter their lifestyle too much, all natural resources are finished. There is nothing left. Not only that, because making a change was put out for too long there are now strict rules in place. Some parts of the country risk being flooded. The people living in these parts, mostly around the coasts, are on high alert of having to evacuate. There is a curfew installed that requires everyone to be inside their houses at 22:00 and all electricity, outside and inside are shut down between midnight and 06:00 in the morning. Just like in the covid pandemic we are in now. The lockdown will have its ups and downs and there will be a positive perspective but when let loose a little again this perspective will quickly turn and the rules will be stricter again.

Aimee words + description:

Opinion

View or judgement. Something the ego (mind) has made a fact, but is in fact, not a fact. An opinion can be formed by experience and influence of other egos. An opinion is often seen as a form off self-expression. ‘To have an opinion’ can be seen as a way of an ego to matter and to be seen. It can be used to unite groups. Opinions can be very powerful and very dangerous. Because an opinion is based on experience and influence of surroundings and is a fact (but is seen as a fact by many), opinions can be used to suppress people. Opinions can also be used to liberate and free people. Everybody has opinions.

Experience

An event occurring that leaves an impression. Undergoing something that will shape you. The ego (mind) relies on experience to determine what is good and not. Every decision made is based on experience. Experience is very personal. One can experience a scenario differently than someone else. Experience can also mean something different. It is also used to point out how educated one is. With educated I mean how often one did the task. Experience is seen as something needed to be able to be a master of a thing or a task.

Space: the body
My footprints leave marks everywhere I go. Not a step I can make, a breath I can take without leaving a mark. If I don’t
put food in my mouth I die. If I don’t put clothes on my body I freeze. This body is too much, too big, too needy. I once
saw a picture of a street in New York, filled with 100 bodies in 100 cars. The next picture was the same 100 bodies on
bikes. Less space. Next 100 bodies on two busses. Even less space. The last was 100 body’s on a subway cart. The
least space.
In my house there are two bodies moving on forty eight square meter. one body is 1,85 and one is 1,74 meters long. If
the bodies were 185 centimeters and 174 centimeters we would have four hundred and eighty square meters to live in.
Less body means less space.
Is it possible to take in no space at all? How would my body have to look to be able to be spaceless? Would there even
be a body? No footprints, no steps, no breaths. No mark.

==SPACE

Living room

A gathering of eclectic object that consist of my interests and likings

The space consists of a light frame work which is built out of a light white wooden floor, baby pink walls and light gray doors.

5 by 3 meters large, and 2.5 meters high.

The space is full of plants hanging off the sealing, onto cub-bards on all the tables and spread throughout the room. From small pancake plants to a big tobacco plant.

The objects found in the space are from every generation, lights of the 50’s, salon table from the 60, bedside table from the 70’s, paintings from the 80’s, bookshelf from the 90’s, sofa and tv from the 2000’s and some modern pieces throughout.

This is my living room.
Re-writing assignment:

It was already getting light out. An orange glow filled the room. I need to rush, she thought. A quick glimpse around the room and everything looked normal. Just when SHE wanted to close the door, she noticed in the corner of her eye something shining. She stepped back into the room to take a closer look. Upclose the object was not shining anymore. Not really hidden but also not in plain sight, a green hamer layd in the corner of the room under her dresser. With some hesitation she picked up the hammer and felt an overwhelming feeling of oneness with the universe. She felt inner peace for the first time in her life. There she stood, the morning sun hitting her face and for a moment everything felt like a dream. ‘Excuse me miss’, it sounded and these words ripped her back to reality. She looked around the room but no one was there. ‘Hello’ it sounded again. Confused, she looked down to her hands. ‘Yes it is me’, the hammer said to her. Still processing what was happening she spoke back, ‘uhm, hello’.
‘hello , my dear’ the hammer said, the hammer could speak but not with words but with feelings and energy. He showed her raw elements that showcased the past, that told a story that made her envision the world in a different way. Time was different with the hammer in her hand. Past, present and future were one, all at the same time and all none.
They had a connection, but why? Why is she holding the hammer?

Transcending above her body she asked, ‘ what is going on? What do I feel?
Peace and chaos filled her when the hammer said ‘ the world is suffering, it is getting drained of all the resources. And I don't have enough energy to rebuild it on time’.
‘You see, I am the rawest material created from pure energy, with this energy I could start to build the world piece by piece’ the hammer said. ‘Trees higher than the eye could see, water with such strong tides that could move mountains, volcanoes that bursted out light, winds that moved the whispers of the land, I created it all.’

A tiredness came over her, she felt what the hammer felt when it was done building the world. Tired, so so tired, but an overwhelming peace.

‘I need your help to rebuild the world. Mankind is destroying it all, they are sneaky, creepy, always peeping, money seeking, very creepy, destroyers. He is doing it on the down low. So you don't know what is hitting you. All they want is cash and hide’ the hammer explained.

Flashes of light surrounded her, past and present disappeared, only the future was left… a broken, painful image of a dystopian world.
Good evening, in recent weeks I regularly think back to a year ago, the period around that second TV speech on December 14, 2030 that set the first measures in motion. With, also then, everyday high and ever increasing sea level, with also then a rapid decrease of natural fuels, both in our country and in the rest of the world. And also then we heard ever louder cries of climate emergency: help us, do something, we simply won't make it. The big difference with last year is that most of us are now aware of the damage we have caused. And fortunately so, because those who are aware of this are better able to take action. Taking action works, so to everyone who is still in doubt I say: take action and protect yourself and also the people around you.

The second big difference with last year is less positive. At that time we thought that with the large-scale introduction of restrictions somewhere in the summer or autumn of 2031 we would be rid of the most stringent measures. That is what we in the cabinet thought, that is what the experts who advised us thought, and also internationally almost everyone was convinced of that. We thought about it, but the reality is very different. And in the air and energy sector it's all hands on deck again. And don't get me wrong: I'm not saying this to absolve ourselves of criticism. That criticism is there, we are not deaf to it and undoubtedly later on all kinds of evaluations will show how justified the criticism was on various points. Because one thing is certain: there is no way to do this flawlessly. So we don't want to run away from that either. For example, we keep trying to convince people of the importance of observing the basic rules.
But apparently we, including myself, are succeeding less and less well in getting that story across. At the moment, for example, less than half of the people still use their cars instead of bicycles. That shows that the message about how important it is to do that, to cycle, is not getting across sufficiently. And I have myself to blame for that. We will have to do better.

And then to our decisions today, with another difficult and far-reaching message. The numbers are high, higher, highest each day, and all sorts of research shows that our collective behavior has changed only slightly after February 12. For example, from traffic research, which shows only a small decrease in travel movements. And that means that a few small tightenings won't get us there and that's why we're standing here today, a week earlier than hoped, with another message that's going to demand a lot from all of us.

The current advice and measures, those remain. Those remain in place as we discussed them with you on February 12. On top of that comes the next package, and I'll start with today's most far-reaching decision: as of next Sunday, February 18, between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m., basically everything in the Netherlands will be closed.
The next big decision is that, starting Sunday 18 February, there will be an advisory curfew between 22:00 and 05:00, this is because we will turn off the power nationally between these times to save energy. We are also turning off street lights and business lights.
There is also an urgent evacuation advisory for residents of the red and black colored areas. Please consider the safety of yourself and those around you. We are also advising the areas that are colored orange to evacuate preemptively. The third decision does take effect immediately, namely the advice for wearing a mouth mask outside the door because of the increasingly polluted air.

And then I have to dwell on the rapid increase in gas prices. During the last measurement, an increase of 76% was measured and it is not expected to go down in the short term. We therefore recommend cooking and heating electrically as much as possible.
And finally, a call. Do not take any risks. We are in a crisis from which we can only emerge if we are strong together and are there for each other. Think of others and of our country, the earth and of course think of our future.
